Why Should I Work for You?

Unless you are the only gig in town, your best employees can get similar or better pay elsewhere, so why do they stick around?

Admittedly, job hunting is hard work, and many people prefer to just stick around because of the cautionary adage: “the grass always appears greener”. But if you are taking the time to read this post, it is likely you lost an employee that you didn’t want to.

Some people enjoy the people they work with, some enjoy the flexibility the job provides, some might even have a strong affinity for their stapler.

But it is worth asking yourself (and maybe even some of your best and/or scarce-skill employees), why do they hang around? And remember, if you are worried about the topic of money, it goes both ways: they are still working for you, so the pay can’t be the only reason… your differentiation comes from elsewhere.

Better to ask now, than when they walk into your office with some bad news.
